This is a kit version of an amp I put together based on poindexter's musical machine. poindexter is brilliant and amazing, and he makes some fantastic gear.

The kit provides you with all the necessary parts and resources to put together your very own stereo vacuum tube amplifier. The amp is rated at about 5W, which is just enough power to thoroughly annoy your neighbours without completely deafening them. It sounds fantastic, and is one of the simplest tube circuits out there.

This is not your average tube amp kit. The circuit was originally designed by tube audio guru poindexter, who is known for producing extraordinary equipment. This amp is capable of producing sound quality that could easily rival that of much more expensive devices, even though it contains few boutique parts. A similar product might run into the thousands of dollars from a high-end retailer.

The kit does not come with hookup wire or solder, that's up to you. It's truly retro, it uses terminal strips and point-to-point soldering instead of a PCB. Included with the kit is a full parts list with sources, and a number of drilling templates/stencils to help you lay everything out. These, of course, are also available for you here for free on the site, as is any and all other documentation. You could build this amp on your own without the kit, and I totally encourage you to do that! If you do, I'd love to hear about it! Once built, an amp like this will last you ages. You'll able to tinker with and modify it over time, learning more and more about electronics and tube audio. It really is an investment in experience. Plus you get mad props for having an awesome retro piece of audio equipment. The ladies love tube amps. Or something like that.
